If you thought the only benefit of sex was the pleasure piece (not that there’s anything wrong with that!), here’s an AWESOME bit of news – not only does sex feel good, but it can also be good for you!
It’s true. Making love is good for adults health-wise. And making love on a regular basis is even better! Not only does sex help you sleep better, relieve stress, and burn a few extra calories, there are also several other reasons why you need to have sex more often…. As in like… Every. Damn. Day!
Here are some of the reasons to roll around with your partner in the sack tonight:
Sex kick starts your immune system
People who have regular sex tend to have higher levels of what defend the body against unwanted visitors like germs, viruses, and other intruders. In fact, researchers found that college students who had sex more often throughout the week had higher levels of certain, healthy antibodies compared to students who had sex less often.
Along with doing the nasty, you should always also remember to do that other things that will keep your immune system humming, like eating a balanced diet, exercising, getting enough sleep each night, and keeping up to date with doctor’s visits and routine vaccinations.
Sex makes your heart happy
Those who have sex more often have less of a chance of suffering from a heart attack or stroke.
Scientists with New England Research Institute examined the effect of sex on the heart. Their study suggests that men are 45 percent less likely to experience cardiovascular diseases when they’re sexually active.
Sex is better than aspirin
Do you suffer from chronic migraines and body pain? Try treating it with some extra nookie!
According to Dr. George E. Erlich, an arthritis specialist from Philadelphia, patients who engaged in frequent sex experience less pain. Erlich conducted a study that looked at the possible connections between sex and arthritis.
Furthermore, your body increases its production of the hormone oxytocin just as you’re about to orgasm. Oxytocin is actually clinically proven to reduce aches and pains. Boo-yah!
Sex makes your teeth look nice (??)
Hey… if the researchers say it’s so, then we’ll take it! But actually, this is one bit of wisdom to pass on to your lady friend (and another way to help her see the benefits of sex for her, too).
In addition to sperm, semen contains minerals like calcium, magnesium, and zinc — which are surprisingly also found in root canal fillings. Zinc and calcium are also ingredients in most commercially available tooth rinses. We’ll let you get creative on how to get more, um, calcium and, magnesium, and zinc in your oral diet…
Sex totally counts as exercise
Sex burns an average of five calories per minute… and that’s about four more calories per minute than you burn watching TV! It’s a double jackpot: It bumps up your heart rate and works out a number of different muscles. So get busy!
Sex keeps you looking young
Making love at least three times a week can make you look up to 10 years (!!!) younger, according to a Scottish researcher. “It’s good for you to have good sex,” says David Weeks, a clinical neuropsychologist whose study on the effects of sex on aging appears in his book, Secrets of the Superyoung.
Sex kicks cancer’s ass
Regular ejaculation reduces your chances of developing prostate cancer, especially for men in the 50+ age group. According to some studies, regular sex “flushes out” any carcinogens lurking in the prostate gland, making it less likely to become cancerous… Viola!
Sex makes you trustworthy
The subtitle may not make it seem so, but we had to throw a mushy, gushy one in here.
Aside from pain relief that we mentioned before, oxytocin controls the happiness and love emotions. If your feel your relationship is kind of fizzling out, there is trust issues, or you’re worried about your partner’s happiness, regular sex will help dispel these doubts. The hormone oxytocin builds trust and brings couples closer.
Sex prevents erectile dysfunction
Up to 50 percent of men over the age of 40 suffer from erectile dysfunction. In this department, the best medicine against impotence is… sex.
An erection keeps the blood flowing through your penile arteries, so the tissue stays healthy. Plus, doctors compare an erection to an athletic reflex: the more you train the more capable you are to perform. Batter up!
Still, there comes a time every now and again where we could all use some help going from 6 to midnight, if you know what we mean. When that time comes, Dr. Seltzer’s is the answer!
The best part? You only have to take Dr. Seltzer’s Hard On Helper when you need it. Just take one capsule (500mg) with plenty of water 1-2 hours before sex (only if required!). Water is recommended to both keep tissues healthy and to eliminate toxins already present in the body.
Daily sex is important. Heck, you’ll bring your partner to the bedroom after reading this article if you’re smart! Don’t hold back on getting down and dirty. And when you need that extra boost, don’t be afraid to call on Dr. Seltzer’s!
